About

me

My name is Jennifer McMillan. Welcome to my blog!

Six years ago I was living and working in downtown Toronto (go Jays/Leafs/Raps go!), loving my single life in the city. The city has so much to offer and I was happily taking advantage of it all – the food, the bars, the beer, the neighborhoods, TIFF, Hot Docs… I could go on. Fast forward to January 2011 when I found myself in the basement of a bar called Tattoo Rock Parlour. At the time Tattoo was a bar known for the previously famous Edwin, the former lead singer for I Mother Earth (a 90’s Canadian alternative rock band), who served up overpriced domestic beers and mixed drinks to the musical genius of other ‘90s rock bands, in the basement of the bar. And that my friends is where I found love. But this was not just any love, my newfound romance was with a guy from – you guessed it…the suburbs. tattoo Fast forward again to November 2011 when I decided to move to Milton. This Blog is the story of my retreat from an exciting urban life, in the core of downtown Toronto, to the quiet suburban town of Milton, Ontario. I hope my experiences will show you that- the suburbs really aren’t that bad, and that there is life outside of the big smoke – a pretty good one actually! Enjoy.
